The point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder is a nominee in two categories: Best Athlete in Men`s Sports and Best NBA Player. His team, the Thunder, is also recognized among the nine nominees for Best Team, particularly after their decisive Game 7 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
Several individuals have earned ESPYS nominations for their exceptional performances at the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games held in Paris. Simone Biles and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone are both candidates for Best Athlete in Women`s Sports. Ilona Maher is nominated for Best Breakthrough Athlete, while Ezra Frech is a nominee in the Best Athlete with a Disability category.
A`ja Wilson, who was the recipient of both the Best Athlete in Women`s Sports and Best WNBA Player awards in 2024, is once again a leading nominee in both of these categories. Saquon Barkley has received nominations in three different areas: Best Athlete in Men`s Sports, Best Play, and Best NFL Player. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is the only other NFL player besides Barkley to be nominated in both the Best NFL Player and Best Athlete in Men`s Sports categories.
