A popular and exciting featherweight fighter appears to have ended his tenure with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Alex Caceres, a longtime featherweight staple and former main event competitor, has been fighting in the Octagon since 2010.

An alumnus of ‘The Ultimate Fighter 12’, Caceres spent 14 years on the UFC roster, facing notable names throughout his career including Urijah Faber, Yair Rodriguez, Sergio Pettis, and Giga Chikadze.

Despite still being listed on the official active UFC roster at the time of this report, news regarding Caceres’ upcoming fight indicates a surprising change in his career path.

Alex Caceres Books Fight Post-UFC with Dirty Boxing Championship

Earlier this week, it was announced that Caceres is scheduled to compete against former UFC fighter Saidyokub Kakhramonov. This bout will not take place in the Octagon, but rather at Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship event slated for June 14th in Miami, Florida.

Dirty Boxing is described as a new hybrid combat sport, blending elements of MMA and boxing. Fighters wear four-ounce gloves and are permitted to punch, slap, elbow, and even utilize ground and pound.

The featherweight contest between Caceres and Kakhramonov is set to be the co-main event for DBX 2. The main event will feature former UFC heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik taking on Devon Schwan.

While Alex Caceres` name has not yet been officially removed from the active UFC fighter list, this specific booking strongly suggests the conclusion of his extensive 30-fight career within the promotion. A request for comment regarding Caceres’ UFC release from the Dirty Boxing Championship organization was not immediately answered.

Reviewing Alex Caceres` UFC Career Highlights

Caceres departs the UFC following two consecutive decision losses, falling short against Giga Chikadze in 2023 and Sean Woodson approximately a year ago.

Known by his moniker ‘Bruce Leeroy’, Caceres compiled a record of 16-13 (1 NC) during his time in the Octagon. Throughout his UFC tenure, he earned a total of $400,000 in performance bonuses, accumulating eight bonus awards.

In 2016, Caceres took former interim champion Yair Rodriguez to a split decision in their initial main event clash, a performance that earned both fighters ‘Fight of the Night’ honors.

The fan-favorite fighter once achieved a significant five-fight winning streak in the featherweight division, securing victories over opponents including Chase Hooper, Kevin Croom, and Steven Peterson, which propelled him into the top-15 rankings.

Another notable performance occurred in 2014, when Caceres secured an action-packed submission victory over former Bellator champion Sergio Pettis, a single bout that earned Caceres a remarkable $100,000 in post-fight bonuses.
