World No. 34 Alex Michelsen commented on the fact that for the first time in 34 years, the quarter-finals of an ATP tournament featured only American players.
This week it happened in Houston, and prior to that, it occurred in Orlando in April 1991.
“It`s cool. We have a lot of great guys in the Top 100 right now – 12 or 13 players. So American tennis is very strong. I hope one of us will eventually win a `Slam`. It hasn`t happened in a long time, but at least we have eight quarter-finalists at a `250` event,” Michelsen shared with a smile in an on-court interview after his victory over Adrian Mannarino.
