Alex Pereira is hoping for a different result in a potential rematch against Magomed Ankalaev compared to their first encounter at UFC 313 in March.
Pereira`s impressive reign as the UFC light heavyweight champion was abruptly halted by Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 in March. Ankalaev secured a unanimous decision victory by outmaneuvering Pereira on his feet throughout the majority of their fight.

Long-Time Rival Believes Alex Pereira Can Reclaim Title
Despite initial discussions for a rematch shortly after their fight, and Ankalaev`s expressed desire for an August fight, negotiations have seemingly slowed down, with Ankalaev indicating a lack of progress.
It was later revealed that Pereira fought with a broken hand and norovirus, suggesting he needed recovery time.
However, Artem Vakhitov, Pereira`s long-standing kickboxing rival, believes Pereira can regain his title in their next fight.
“I think Pereira was too focused on defending takedowns, which prevented him from implementing his own strategies and knockout power,” Vakhitov stated in an exclusive interview.
“In the rematch, I believe he will be more open and the fight won`t go the distance. Alex will realize takedowns aren`t a significant threat, allowing him to fight more freely.”
“It`s hard to say definitively, but I do believe he will reclaim his title,” Vakhitov added.
Artem Vakhitov Still in UFC Talks After Initial Contract Rejection
Vakhitov and Pereira have a history, each defeating the other once in previous matchups. Following Vakhitov`s win on Dana White`s Contender Series last year, a trilogy fight in the UFC seemed likely.
However, Vakhitov reportedly declined the UFC`s initial contract offer due to an unsatisfactory base salary.
Despite this, Vakhitov disclosed that negotiations with the UFC are ongoing, leaving the possibility of him joining the promotion still open.
