Alexander Zverev Acknowledges Pattern of Losing Matches After Taking the Lead

World No. 2 Alexander Zverev shared his thoughts on his defeat to Arthur Fils in the fourth round of the Miami Masters (6-3, 3-6, 4-6).

“Recently, I’ve been losing quite often, and it feels like I’m not in control of these situations. Today was another example of that, so I need to focus more on my own game than anything else.”

He continued, “I think I played much better in Miami than in recent weeks, for sure. But I was up a break in the third set… There`s no reason to lose a match like that. I just gave away four games in a row. In Indian Wells, I was serving for the match, in Rio I was leading 4-1 in the third, in Buenos Aires, I was up a set and a break. I`m losing too many matches where I have a lead. I have to change this,” Zverev stated at the press conference.
