Two-time Grand Slam mixed doubles champion Andrei Olhovskiy has shared his thoughts on Daniil Medvedev`s recent dip in form. Following the Miami Masters, Medvedev is expected to fall out of the Top 10 in the rankings.
Olhovskiy believes Medvedev needs to step up his game and continue to evolve. He pointed out that younger players are no longer intimidated by Medvedev and have developed strategies to counter his style of play. What once brought Medvedev success is now proving less effective.
According to Olhovskiy, Medvedev`s baseline game has become less consistent, while younger competitors have become more aggressive in their approach.
Adding to the discussion, former world No. 1 Yevgeny Kafelnikov suggested that both Medvedev and Andrey Rublev need to work significantly harder than before. Kafelnikov expressed doubt that either player currently possesses the necessary desire to do so.
