Former World No. 1 and 2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick believes that 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic could be considered one of the favorites for Roland Garros if he performs strongly in his initial matches.
“We have very short memories,” Roddick commented. “All we remember is his loss to Arnaldi (in Madrid). But in Australia, he defeated Alcaraz, and he played Zverev, and people said if he was healthy, he would be the favorite. Zverev was second or third in the world.”
Roddick added that Djokovic possesses the unique ability to quickly reset expectations. “If he plays well in his first two matches at Roland Garros, we`ll put him back at the top of the favorites list. He can reset faster than anyone else.”
