Argentina Submits List of 15,000+ Violent Fans to U.S. for Club World Cup Ban

Argentina`s minister of national security, Patricia Bullrich, has sent a list to the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires containing the names of over 15,000 individuals identified as violent football supporters. These individuals will be prohibited from attending the upcoming Club World Cup tournament scheduled to take place in the United States this summer.

According to statements from Bullrich, the list specifically includes “more than 15,000 people who will be banned from stadiums.” She emphasized the significant importance of this action, stating, “For us, this is extremely important because no violent person who has committed any crime in Argentine stadiums will be able to attend this sporting event.”

The compilation of these names is a result of the “Tribuna Segura” (Safe Stand) program, an initiative designed to identify individuals who have previously been banned from stadiums in Argentina due to violent conduct or other related offenses.

Providing context on the program`s effectiveness, Bullrich mentioned that since the current government took office in 2023, “Tribuna Segura” has monitored over four million people across 1,328 matches. This extensive monitoring has reportedly led to the detection of 1,166 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants and the issuance of more than 40 administrative orders restricting access to stadiums.

Argentine Teams in the Tournament

The Club World Cup tournament is scheduled to take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13. Two prominent Argentine clubs, Boca Juniors and River Plate, are among the participants.

Boca Juniors has been drawn into Group C for the group stage, where they are set to compete against Germany`s Bayern Munich, Portugal`s Benfica, and New Zealand`s Auckland City.

Meanwhile, River Plate is placed in Group F. Their group stage opponents will be Italy`s Inter, Mexico`s Monterrey, and Japan`s Urawa Red Diamonds.
