The world`s top-ranked player, Aryna Sabalenka, and world No. 4, Jessica Pegula, are set to meet for the third time in a major North American tournament final within the last year.
Both players have advanced to the Miami Open final. In 2024, they previously contested titles in Cincinnati and at the US Open, with Sabalenka emerging victorious in both instances.
Notably, at least one of these two athletes has reached the final of every significant North American tournament since the Miami Open in 2023, where Danielle Collins defeated Elena Rybakina. Last season, Pegula triumphed over Amanda Anisimova in Toronto, while earlier this year in Indian Wells, Sabalenka was defeated by Mirra Andreeva.
Jessica Pegula commented on the upcoming final against Sabalenka: “If I can play good tennis, I will have my chances. I will focus on applying the lessons learned from our recent matches.”
