Berrettini Retires Against Ruud in Rome Third Round

In a third-round match at the Rome Masters in Italy, world No. 7 Casper Ruud of Norway faced Italian world No. 30 Matteo Berrettini. Berrettini retired from the match while trailing Ruud 7-5, 2-0. The exact reasons for his retirement were not immediately known.

In the Round of 16 of the Rome tournament, Ruud will play Spain`s Jaume Munar. Munar secured his spot by defeating American Sebastian Korda with a score of 6-4, 6-2.

Before the match against Berrettini in Rome, Casper Ruud had commented: “I will try to do everything possible to stop him – I apologize in advance if I succeed.”
