Flyweight contender Edgar Chairez is confident that Brandon Moreno will overcome Alexandre Pantoja in their anticipated fourth match and regain the world title.
Moreno, a two-time champion, is currently preparing for his fight against Steve Erceg at UFC Mexico City. Chairez, also competing at the event, believes Moreno will end Pantoja`s reign, despite Moreno`s previous losses to the current champion in three encounters, including twice in the UFC and once on The Ultimate Fighter.
Edgar Chairez Predicts Moreno Will Dethrone Pantoja in a Fourth Bout
Alexandre Pantoja`s dominance in the flyweight division seems unchallenged recently. However, Chairez stated in an interview with Bloody Elbow that he believes Moreno will become the undisputed challenger and take the title. Pantoja is expected to face Kai Kara-France next, with Manel Kape also being a top contender.
“Brandon Moreno is the best fighter in the world,” Chairez asserted in English. “Yes, he will be champion again this year.”
“Pantoja is still [the best flyweight], and he will beat Kara France. But Brandon will beat Pantoja this year for sure. The other fight is very close, but I say bring Brandon!”
Chairez Rules Out Fighting Moreno for the Title
Regarding his own title aspirations, Chairez emphasized that he would never fight Moreno, regardless of the financial incentive. They share a close friendship, and Chairez has even bought tickets to support Moreno at the UFC Mexico City main event.
“I will be participating and then I have bought my tickets so I can re-enter the arena and support these fighters and my friend Brandon Moreno who is going to be participating,” Chairez explained. “Being there to support the sport is humbling.”
“I would never fight him, it’s probably not worth it. Not even the most amount of money would make me want to fight somebody who has been a supporter of my work and who motivates me to do what I do every day.”
