Bruno Silva Released by UFC Following Fifth Consecutive Loss

Bruno Silva, the first fighter in the UFC to go the distance with Alex Pereira, is no longer with the promotion.

Despite starting his UFC tenure with an impressive 22-6 record and earning back-to-back KO bonuses, Bruno Silva`s path in the promotion appeared to change after his 2022 fight against former two-division champion Alex Pereira.

He started his UFC career with a 3-0 record, securing all wins via knockout, but then lost seven of his subsequent eight fights.

After four years competing in the demanding middleweight division and suffering a loss at UFC 315 last weekend, Silva`s time in the UFC has come to an end.

Bruno Silva Removed from UFC Roster Following Fifth Straight Loss

His removal from the UFC roster this week confirms his promotional release, following a five-fight losing skid.

Silva`s recent bout at UFC 315 on Saturday resulted in a first-round TKO loss to Marc-André Barriault, a defeat described as the worst of his career.

Barriault landed elbows that visibly dented Silva`s skull, leaving him unconscious for several minutes.

Silva was carried out on a stretcher and hospitalized but was released the same night, later assuring fans he was fine in a health update.

Bruno Silva: The Only Middleweight to Go the Distance Against Alex Pereira in the UFC

Silva faced Alex Pereira in `Poatan`s` second UFC bout, holding his own in the smaller UFC Apex venue and notably not being dropped.

Before facing Silva, none of Pereira`s opponents (since his MMA debut loss) had survived two rounds, let alone completing the full three rounds.

Silva`s ability to reach the judges` decision was an impressive achievement, one that no other middleweight opponent of Pereira had accomplished in the UFC.

The only other fighters to go the distance with Pereira in the UFC are current light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev and former champion Jan Blachowicz.

Following the fight with Pereira, `Blindado` faced significant competition in the UFC.

His opponents included former champion Chris Weidman, top contender Brendan Allen, and undefeated prospect Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov (who was 11-0 at the time).

Three of Silva`s four knockout wins in the UFC earned him $50,000 performance bonuses.

During his time in the UFC, Silva secured knockout wins against fighters like perennial contender Brad Tavares, `The Ultimate Fighter 23` winner Andrew Sanchez, Jordan Wright, and Wellington Turman.
