World No. 7 Casper Ruud shared his thoughts following his second-round victory over Alexander Bublik at the Rome Masters, a match he won with a scoreline of 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Ruud commented on the difficulty of facing Bublik`s unique style. “Alexander played a great match,” Ruud stated. “He didn`t give me much time to think or space to set up rallies.”
Ruud elaborated on the challenge posed by Bublik`s game. “When he is in good form, he becomes extremely dangerous. He serves powerfully, approaches the net unexpectedly, and hits perfect drop shots. His unpredictable play can really trouble any opponent with practically any shot.”
He summarized his experience playing against Bublik, saying, “For me, he is clearly an uncomfortable opponent.”
Ruud identified a crucial moment in the match: “Fortunately, in the third set, I managed to break his serve first, which allowed me to concentrate better on holding my own service games.”
