Casper Ruud Makes History in Madrid, Matching David Nalbandian’s Feat

World No. 15 Casper Ruud has demonstrated dominant form on clay courts since 2020, leading all players on the ATP Tour with an impressive 125 victories during this period. The Norwegian is also a three-time finalist at Grand Slam tournaments.

Adding another significant achievement, Ruud recently claimed his first-ever Masters 1000 title at the Madrid Open. By doing so, he became only the second male player in the Open Era to make Madrid the location of their maiden Masters victory, a feat previously accomplished by David Nalbandian in 2007.

Furthermore, this triumph marks a historic moment for Norwegian tennis, as Casper Ruud is the first player from Norway to secure a title at the prestigious Masters 1000 level.
