Conor McGregor revives UFC comeback talks with weird Dana White demand after retirement admission

Conor McGregor has reignited discussions about his return to the UFC by sending a public message to the organization.

Known as `Notorious`, McGregor has been out of action since sustaining a broken leg at UFC 264 in July 2021.

A planned comeback fight against Michael Chandler was set for UFC 303 in June 2024 but was cancelled when McGregor broke a toe during training.

Since these setbacks, UFC CEO Dana White has publicly expressed uncertainty regarding the Irishman`s future in mixed martial arts.

Speculation about McGregor`s fighting return had notably subsided in recent months.

The 36-year-old has largely remained detached from the sport that brought him immense fame and wealth.

However, the situation shifted following Dana White`s announcement of various fight updates on Tuesday evening.

McGregor responded to news of Islam Makhachev vacating his UFC title with an `exciting` comment directed at White.

The following day, the former two-division champion appeared to take steps towards initiating his return.

Taking to his Instagram story, McGregor posted: “@danawhite @tkogrp CALL THAT BIG BUTT NURSE.”

He followed up by adding: “Let’s get this show started @ufc.”

Previously, Conor McGregor had hinted at the possibility of retirement.

In March, McGregor admitted to considering retirement after turning down a fight offer, suggesting his focus was leaning towards a political career rather than a UFC comeback at that time.

“I’ve got two fights on the contract, I’m in negotiations,” McGregor stated at a BKFC press conference. “Last week something happened to me, I went to the White House and my heart bleeds for my country right now.”

“So there’s a lot of stuff going on back home, I’m happy with what I’ve done. There’s something else for me that’s in my gut right now and that’s kind of where I’m going.”
