Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor recently commemorated the 14th anniversary of his quickest knockout victory in MMA.
While McGregor is famously known for his 13-second finish of Jose Aldo at UFC 194, an earlier knockout in his career was even faster, taking just 3 seconds.
McGregor`s journey to the pinnacle of the UFC featherweight division is considered a remarkable success story in MMA. He rapidly transitioned from a promising fighter to a global UFC icon, marked by spectacular knockouts and memorable moments.
Before joining the UFC, McGregor competed in regional Irish MMA events. In April 2011, in Letterkenny, Ireland, he achieved a lightning-fast knockout with a single punch.

McGregor`s Fastest MMA Win in Seconds
At Immortal Fighting Championship 4, McGregor faced Paddy Doherty, shortly after a loss to Joseph Duffy. Both fighters were aiming to impress Cage Warriors and other promotions to advance in their MMA careers.
Immediately at the start of the fight, McGregor moved forward and countered Doherty`s attack with a left hand, resulting in an instant knockout. This remains the fastest victory of McGregor`s professional career.
Fourteen years later, McGregor shared a post on X, reflecting on the win that propelled him towards his UFC journey.
“14 years ago today, I scored the fastest professional MMA KO of my career. 3 seconds,” McGregor wrote, mentioning “Letterkenny, Ireland.”
Responding to a fan`s question about his mindset at the fight`s beginning, McGregor simply stated, “Get this man out of here, and fast!”
Almost two years after this quick finish, McGregor debuted in the UFC against Marcus Brimage, securing another first-round knockout.
Pimblett Calls Out McGregor for Potential Fight
As of 2025, McGregor`s UFC future is uncertain following a prolonged absence from the Octagon. He has hinted at a possible retirement from MMA as he considers a presidential run in Ireland.
McGregor has been inactive since his leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He has lost three of his last four fights, with his last win being against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.
Lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett has expressed interest in fighting McGregor, particularly after his victory at UFC 314.
Pimblett subtly mocked McGregor, alluding to a future acting career, after McGregor had bet against Pimblett winning against Michael Chandler at UFC 314.
Pimblett has consistently suggested a fight with McGregor. McGregor was initially scheduled to return at UFC 303 against Chandler but withdrew due to injury.
