Dana White Updates on Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall Amid Conflicting Reports

UFC CEO Dana White remains highly confident that one of the biggest fights in the history of the sport will be made in 2025.

A potential heavyweight title unification clash between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall has been a major talking point since Jones defeated Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November.

Earlier this week, former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen claimed that the fight between Jones and Aspinall had been officially agreed upon, with a date secured for what White himself had previously suggested could be the biggest fight in MMA history.

However, the following day, Sonnen retracted his claim and instead suggested that Ciryl Gane might be Aspinall`s next opponent. Aspinall has been actively seeking a fight date since his rapid 60-second victory over Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 in July.

Update on Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall

Dana White was present at the UFC Kansas City event on Saturday night. Following the fights, he spoke to the media and was questioned about the status of the eagerly awaited champion vs. champion fight between Jones and Aspinall, especially in light of the recent conflicting reports.

White was direct in his response, stating, “Everything you hear is bulls— until we say it.”

He reiterated his long-held stance: “I`ve said it many times, that`s the fight we want to make this year.”

He concluded by expressing continued optimism: “Still super confident [it happens].”

Dana White Confirms Another UFC Title Fight

White expressed even stronger certainty regarding a middleweight title fight between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev.

Reports circulating from 185lb contender Caio Borralho suggested that du Plessis had broken his shin during training, leading fans to worry that this title bout had fallen apart.

However, Du Plessis himself denied the “untrue” injury rumors, confirming his fight with Chimaev is still on, though he admitted it would not take place at UFC 317 on June 28 as originally anticipated.

White confirmed the bout: “We all know that fight is happening, the Du Plessis vs Khamzat fight.”

He clarified the timing: “It`s happening. It`s just not happening International Fight Week.”

He finalized by saying: “That fight is done. It`s just not happening on that one [UFC 317].”
