World No. 11 Daniil Medvedev from Russia shared his thoughts on the start of his campaign at the `Masters` series tournament in Rome. In his second-round match, he defeated Great Britain`s Cameron Norrie with a score of 6/4, 6/2.
“Honestly, it`s always somewhat difficult to perform here, and that`s precisely why whoever finds their tennis level during this specific week can win the tournament, just like I did two years ago. Two years ago, the bounces here were poor, but I managed to find some confidence and win the tournament because of that. Perhaps in Madrid, on a good, ideal court, under ideal conditions, some clay-court specialist would have beaten me.”
“I felt excellent today, it was windy, which made playing tough, but I played a great match. I liked everything about it, and I hope to continue playing like this in the upcoming matches,” Medvedev stated.
Medvedev`s comfortable win over Norrie marks a positive start for the Russian player in Rome, a tournament where he has previously tasted success.
