Diego Lopes quickly rose in the featherweight division, earning him a main event spot at UFC 314. After an initial loss to Movsar Evloev, he has won five fights in a row, most recently defeating Brian Ortega in September.
Lopes needs to lose a bit more weight for the featherweight title fight weigh-in. Even with the difficulty of making 145 pounds, Lopes is not worried about missing weight. He even took a break from his weight cut to enjoy some pizza.

Before eating pizza during his weight cut, Lopes consulted his nutritionist, who approved it.
In the UFC 314: Embedded series, Lopes reassured fans that he is not being careless before fighting Volkanovski.
“The guys had pizza, and I had some too,” Lopes said. “My nutritionist said it was okay.”
Diego Lopes Considers Rematch After UFC 314
Lopes and Volkanovski are fighting for the vacant featherweight title because Ilia Topuria moved to the lightweight division. Topuria`s next opponent at 155 pounds is not yet known, but Charles Oliveira is rumored.
If Lopes wins at UFC 314, he might face Evloev again. Evloev, who has never lost in the UFC, is a likely contender for the title shot.
After not getting a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021, Lopes`s quick rise has surprised many. However, Volkanovski is a very tough opponent, despite his recent losses.
Lopes is enjoying the attention of headlining a UFC pay-per-view and is comfortable eating pizza before the fight. It remains to be seen if this pre-fight meal choice will affect his performance.
