Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, has responded to recent remarks by Russia`s Daniil Medvedev, who expressed interest in hiring Djokovic as his coach and stated he`d be willing to pay any amount.
Djokovic found the suggestion flattering. “First and foremost, I want to thank Daniil. It`s very nice to hear, a big compliment,” he said. “He believes I can help him and be useful for his career.”
Djokovic added that he holds Medvedev in high regard. “I think you all know I really like Daniil. We`ve always had a very good relationship,” he stated. “I see him as not just one of the best players globally, but also one of the smartest in terms of tennis IQ.”
However, Djokovic clarified the timing of such a potential role. “But before I can even consider such proposals, I need to end my playing career,” he explained. “I don`t know when that will be. Therefore, talking about fees now is pointless. It`s something to think about later.”
He concluded, “But I am certain that, considering the relationship we have, I would always be happy to assist him as an advisor or mentor [once my playing days are over].”
