Du Plessis-Chimaev Title Fight Announcement Nearing

UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus Du Plessis has shared positive news regarding his potential title defense against Khamzat Chimaev.

Fans of the UFC are still anticipating the official confirmation of the matchup between Du Plessis and Chimaev, as the two middleweights continue their online exchanges.

Recently, UFC President Dana White provided an encouraging update on the bout, asserting that it is confirmed, though the specific date has yet to be finalized.

While some enthusiasts had hoped the fight might headline UFC 317 during International Fight Week at the end of June, this is now considered highly improbable.

Du Plessis Provides Timeline for Chimaev Title Bout

Earlier this week, `Stillknocks` gave a further positive report about the title fight, suggesting the announcement is only days away.

“We have two possible dates, and I`ve already agreed to both,” Du Plessis told Sias Du Plessis.

The champion elaborated, “The announcement will be made shortly. It`s set to happen within the next few months, at most four months from now. Nothing has been signed yet, but I`ve given my agreement for any date.”

Initially, rumors circulated that Du Plessis had sustained a significant injury, prompting several middleweight contenders to call for an interim title fight.

However, Du Plessis dispelled these injury claims, confirming his readiness to compete and that he is healthy.

Possibility of UFC Middleweight Title Fight in the US Despite Concerns

In addition to the initial concerns about Du Plessis`s health, some fans were unsure whether `Borz` Chimaev would be permitted to compete in the United States due to past difficulties obtaining a visa.

Nonetheless, after Chimaev stated these rumors were false, Dana White also put the speculation to rest by confirming Chimaev faces no impediments to fighting in the United States.

This development expands the potential scheduling options for Chimaev`s anticipated fight against Du Plessis, with UFC 319 now appearing as a likely future date.
