Paddy Pimblett is steadily converting his skeptics into supporters throughout his UFC career.
Despite his impressive 7-0 run in the top MMA promotion, `The Baddy` has frequently been underestimated by both fans and fellow fighters.
However, his dominant third-round TKO win over Michael Chandler at UFC 314 in Miami, Florida, on April 12, marked a significant shift in perception.
Following this major victory, even some of Pimblett`s most outspoken critics have revised their opinions.
Dustin Poirier Supports Paddy Pimblett`s Title Pursuit
Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler have had a long-standing rivalry. Despite this, ahead of UFC 314, `The Diamond` publicly predicted his rival, Chandler, would easily defeat Pimblett. Before the fight, Poirier had stated on social media, “Even though he’s a b—-, Chandler all day go heavy on the money.”
After the bout, he praised the Englishman for demonstrating he belongs among the best lightweights in MMA.
Now, Poirier has expressed his belief that Pimblett can become a world champion, provided he continues to dedicate himself and work hard.
When asked by Ariel Helwani if he was surprised by Pimblett`s win at UFC 314, Poirier replied, “Of course.” He added, “I really thought Chandler was going to beat him, but I was wrong. Paddy is legit.” Poirier further commented, “Yeah. If he believes, works hard enough, and keeps doing what he is doing, he can be [champion].”
