Elena Rybakina: The Importance of Support When Things Go Wrong

World No. 8 Elena Rybakina shared her perspective on how expectations of her have changed since her victory at Wimbledon 2022.

“I think the toughest part is the high expectations you place on yourself. It`s not really about external pressure. When things don`t go your way, it`s easy to get frustrated. That`s where your support system becomes crucial. You need encouragement – someone to push you, a team that believes in you, family, and friends.”

“Ultimately, in tennis, we face more losses than wins. Consistent effort every day is key, and results can come unexpectedly. You might feel fantastic on the court one day, and then suddenly get sick the next morning. What can you do? Nothing. You just have to keep working. That’s how I see it,” Rybakina stated in a podcast with Caroline Garcia and her fiancé Borja Duran, Tennis Insider Club.
