Emma Navarro on Her Origins: ‘I Don’t Like Being Called the Daughter of Someone with a Fortune’

World No. 10 Emma Navarro recently discussed her feelings regarding conversations about her family`s financial standing. Her father, Ben Navarro, is a billionaire and the owner of the tennis tournaments held in Charleston and Cincinnati.

“I don`t read anything – not comments, not articles, nothing. I don`t know what the fans are saying. Of course, headlines mentioning my father is a billionaire do appear, and that`s normal. But I didn`t grow up in circumstances where everything was just handed to me easily.”

“We were raised in quite traditional conditions. We would get up at 6 AM on a Saturday and go play tennis… From a young age, it was important for us to be resilient, hardworking, capable of setting goals, and living a productive life. That`s why I dislike being referred to as `the daughter of so-and-so with such-and-such a fortune`. That label really doesn`t sit well with me,” Navarro stated in an interview with Tatler.
