Former Heavyweight Suggests Ilia Topuria and Paddy Pimblett as Opponents for Conor McGregor’s UFC Return

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub has suggested two significant potential opponents for Conor McGregor`s return to the octagon.

At the height of his career, `The Notorious` was a formidable fighter known for his knockout power.

However, McGregor`s recent career has been less successful, with two consecutive losses to Dustin Poirier. His past defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018 also continues to be a point of mockery.

To re-establish his status and remind everyone of his skill, McGregor needs a significant win in his next fight.

Brendan Schaub Suggests Ilia Topuria or Paddy Pimblett

According to Brendan Schaub, Ilia Topuria and Paddy Pimblett would be ideal opponents for Conor McGregor`s return to the UFC.

Schaub explained that the potential matchups for McGregor depend largely on Islam Makhachev`s future plans.

In a YouTube video, Schaub elaborated: “We`re all waiting on Islam Makhachev… if he stays at 155lbs… you could see Makhachev vs Ilia Topuria in Spain, then Paddy [Pimblett] vs Conor.

If Paddy wins that, he fights the winner [of Makhachev/Topuria]. Alternatively, if it`s Topuria vs Paddy, Paddy vs Conor, or Conor vs Topuria, `take my money.`”

Michael Chandler Still Wants the Fight

While Schaub proposed other opponents, Michael Chandler remains determined to finally fight Conor McGregor.

The two coached against each other on The Ultimate Fighter, with the expectation of fighting afterward.

However, McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion, withdrew from the planned fight due to injury.

Despite the setback, Chandler has not given up hope and recently renewed his calls for the fight.
