Former world number six, Gilles Simon, believes that Carlos Alcaraz is unfairly criticized when he experiences setbacks.
Simon commented, “The issue with players like Carlos is the intense spotlight they are under. Consequently, expectations are always incredibly high. Alcaraz has already secured four Grand Slam titles, which is an astounding feat for someone his age. He has already achieved remarkable success and is destined for even greater accomplishments.”
“Every time a player of his caliber faces a defeat, it`s blown out of proportion as if he`s expected to win every single match. I don`t believe that`s a realistic expectation. We are all aware of his immense talent. People adore him, and naturally, when he doesn`t win, there`s disappointment and a tendency to focus criticism on him. In my opinion, this is unjust,” Simon stated, as reported by Tennis365.
Furthermore, Daniil Medvedev`s former coach shared his thoughts on Jannik Sinner`s return following his disqualification.
“He is going to perform exceptionally well. His time during disqualification is essentially a three-month training block. He might need a few matches to regain his competitive rhythm, but I am confident he will find it quickly. He will undoubtedly achieve victories, return to his previous form, and continue to play at a high level. This situation isn`t due to an injury, but a disqualification. He is healthy and has had the time to prepare effectively.”
