Harry Kane`s long wait for a major trophy might be coming to an end soon. His move to Bayern Munich almost two years ago has been beneficial in many ways, according to the striker.

Bayern Munich is likely to win the Bundesliga title as they are leading by six points with only seven games remaining. This victory would give Kane a significant trophy, silencing critics who point to his lack of silverware despite his reputation as a top goalscorer. However, at 31, Kane says that winning trophies is not the only thing that motivates him.

“People talk a lot about trophies, and whether I win one or twenty, I don’t think it will change how I think,” Kane said in an interview with CBS Sports Golazo Network`s Morning Footy. “Every day, I aim to be the best person, teammate, and player I can be. I feel like I`m in my prime right now and want to play at this top level for as long as possible.”

Kane has consistently been a high-scoring player. His successful transition from Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga is not surprising. This season, he has scored 33 goals in 38 games across all competitions for Bayern. While this scoring record is familiar, Kane believes his transfer in 2023 has helped him grow as a player, especially in the pursuit of titles. Bayern is also competing in the UEFA Champions League, where they will play in the quarterfinals this month, aiming for the final in their home stadium on May 31.

“Competing consistently at the highest level, in the biggest games, is what sets players apart,” Kane stated. “At Tottenham, there were times when we challenged at the top level, but there were also years when we didn`t. Being able to compete year after year against the best teams and defenders, and maintain a consistent level of performance, is what I find most rewarding.”

Kane also mentioned that Bayern Munich`s manager, Vincent Kompany, has been important in his development.

“I`m very impressed with Kompany as a tactical coach,” Kane said. “The team`s playing style this season, with high pressing, man-to-man pressure, strong ball possession, intensity, and counter-pressing, is excellent and very attacking.”

“Kompany has always been known for his leadership as a player, and he has brought that into his coaching. He treats everyone the same, whether they are experienced or new to the team. He gives honest feedback, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses, which the players respect. I believe I have improved since working with him; he has added subtle improvements to my game, which is all you can ask for. I`m really enjoying working with him.”
