The Carolina Hurricanes are progressing towards the Stanley Cup, having secured their spot in the Eastern Conference Finals. The team marked this achievement with notable activity on social media.
Carolina advanced by overcoming the top-seeded Washington Capitals in a five-game series. Their qualification was clinched in a dramatic 3-1 victory in Game 5, sealed by a decisive goal from Andrei Svechnikov in the final two minutes of the third period.
Immediately following their Game 5 triumph, the Hurricanes` social media team began posting several humorous jabs directed at their defeated rivals.
The first notable “troll” appeared right after Thursday`s series-ending game. Taking aim at Washington`s branding, the Hurricanes shared an image of a computer keyboard with the `Shift` and `Caps Lock` keys removed, accompanied by the caption: “no caps.”
The team also used their platform to playfully respond to past critics of their gameplay style and even included Washington, D.C., the Capitals` home city, in their remarks.
Perhaps the most memorable dig was saved for Friday. Responding to a post from Washington`s Dulles International Airport earlier that morning, the Hurricanes humorously suggested that an additional flight to Cancun, Mexico—a popular vacation spot—would be added to the Capitals` schedule following their elimination in Game 5.
Carolina is now set to face the winner of the series between the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs for a place in the Stanley Cup Final.
