Milan, Italy – In a determined effort to dismantle organized criminal influence within fan bases, both FC Internazionale Milano and AC Milan are taking significant steps ahead of the upcoming season. The clubs have announced a firm refusal to grant season tickets to individuals identified as “unwanted fans” as part of their subscription campaigns.
This decisive action comes on the heels of the recent “Doppia curva” (Double Curve) investigation. Working in close collaboration with the Milan Public Prosecutor`s Office and local police authorities, the Milanese giants are moving to ensure that the sort of criminal systems that have plagued fan groups in previous years cannot take root again. It appears the days of turning a blind eye are, perhaps, finally over.
The Crackdown Explained
Hundreds of season ticket renewal applications have reportedly been rejected. These rejections target supporters who have previously received Daspo orders (a type of stadium ban), or who have been flagged or received administrative sanctions for improper conduct or involvement in violent incidents. This includes individuals linked to episodes highlighted by those cooperating with judicial authorities, such as the former Inter ultra leader Andrea Beretta.
The clubs` ethical codes provide the framework for these exclusions. Beyond simply denying entry to specific individuals, additional measures are being implemented. Season tickets for the Curva sections – traditionally the vocal heartland of ultra support – will be non-transferable. This aims to prevent tickets from falling into the wrong hands or being used to bypass restrictions.
Further enhancing stadium security, a new facial recognition camera system is slated for installation at the San Siro turnstiles. This technology is expected to become operational early next year, adding a layer of automated scrutiny to control access. While the official “Curva Nord” and “Curva Sud” banners were previously retired, this latest move represents a tangible step towards physically excluding disruptive and criminal elements from the stands.
The overarching goal is clear: to create a safer stadium environment for all attendees by eradicating the influence of organized criminal groups. This joint effort by the clubs and law enforcement marks a pivotal moment in addressing long-standing issues related to fan behavior and security in Italian football.
