World No. 6 Jack Draper has once again voiced his support for Jannik Sinner, who is currently serving a suspension following a positive doping test for clostebol.
“When people ask me about Jannik, I`m honest: I think he`s a very genuine, nice person and an incredible tennis player. I`m sure he had absolutely no idea about anything in this situation. That`s just how life is, sometimes mistakes happen.
As for my opinion of him as a person, I believe it`s important for people to know and recognize that he is a good-hearted and decent guy. He doesn`t deserve the negativity he`s currently facing,” Draper was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
Recent Practice Session
The British player also discussed his recent practice session with Sinner.
“I knew Jannik was free and planning to practice on clay in Monte Carlo, so his team and I arranged for me to go there for three or four days and train with him.
If you`re going to practice with someone, it might as well be the best in the world, right? Obviously, he hasn`t been practicing extensively yet, but he`s still showing an incredible level. It was brilliant spending a few days with him.
I`m really looking forward to his return to the Tour. In my opinion, he`s missed around here.”
