Jasmine Paolini Discusses Work with New Head Coach Marc Lopez

Italian world number four, Jasmine Paolini, recently shared insights into how her dynamic with the coaching staff has evolved since Spaniard Marc Lopez took over as her head coach.

“I think ultimately, tennis stays the same,” Paolini commented. “They aren`t giving me opposing advice; the guidance is more or less the same. Perhaps the main difference lies in the delivery of information.”

“So far, everything is functioning well, and I am content,” she added. “We haven`t had the opportunity for extensive practice yet, so I`m personally interested to see how things will progress once we have time for longer training sessions.”

Jasmine Paolini and Marc Lopez commenced their partnership in mid-April 2025. Prior to this collaboration, Paolini was coached by fellow Italian Renzo Furlan for over a decade.

Paolini also touched upon the positive influence that playing doubles alongside her compatriot, Sara Errani, has had on her singles results.

“Winning in Paris gave me a confidence boost, and that extended to my singles game too,” she revealed. “There were so many emotions involved. Immense emotions, especially since a gold medal is a truly incredible accomplishment.”

“I genuinely enjoy playing doubles,” Paolini continued. “It assists me in singles, particularly with aspects like my serve and approaching the net. Having both disciplines to compete in is a welcome challenge. So, for the time being, I definitely plan to keep playing doubles.”

Furthermore, Jasmine offered her perspective on the extent to which weather conditions impact her performance during matches.

“It was hot in Hamburg, and the same in Berlin,” she noted. “I actually like playing in the heat. Although, honestly, last year I really enjoyed playing when the roof was closed. Of course, you first need to get to a court that has a roof.”

“How do I manage the heat? I think drinking plenty of water is key, because if a match is prolonged, it becomes quite demanding,” Paolini stated.

Jasmine Paolini is set to participate in the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, scheduled to take place from June 30th to July 13th.
