World No. 60 Joao Fonseca shared his thoughts on becoming an inspiration to young tennis fans and spoke about his own idols in the sport.
In an interview, Fonseca was asked about being a role model for the younger generation. He responded by recalling his own experiences as a young fan:
“It`s hard to believe… Just two years ago, I was the one asking for autographs. Now, kids are asking me for autographs, telling me I`m their idol and that I inspire them.”
The 18-year-old Brazilian revealed his childhood tennis inspirations, naming two iconic players:
“Growing up, I was inspired by Roger Federer. I loved him. And also Guga Kuerten, our Brazilian hero. I admired him not only for his game but also for his charisma, his interview style, and his love for Brazil.”
Fonseca concluded, “I really love representing my country.”
