Jon Jones Faces Backlash for ‘GOAT’ Post as Tom Aspinall Fight Talks Hit Snag

Jon Jones recently posted a photo with a real goat on social media, seemingly teasing fans while discussions about his next fight intensify.

Although UFC President Dana White maintains that Jones will face interim champion Tom Aspinall to unify the heavyweight title, other reports from the MMA world are more skeptical. Aspinall himself expressed frustration in a recent YouTube video, noting the lack of communication from the UFC and his inactivity since July.

Meanwhile, Jones seems focused on other ventures, such as media appearances and starting his Dirty Boxing Championship with Mike Perry. Whether he will fight next or possibly retire remains unclear.

Fans Mock Jon Jones Over Instagram ‘GOAT’ Post

In a recent Instagram post, Jon Jones shared a picture of himself with a live goat, referencing the “Greatest of All Time” label often associated with him. Despite his reputation as arguably the best fighter in UFC history, this comes with the caveat of past drug test failures and various controversies.

His caption was simply “baaa,” but the post drew significant negative feedback from commenters who largely accused him of avoiding a fight with Aspinall. Before comments were restricted, many users criticized him for not stepping up to face the interim champion.

One comment read, “best heavyweight of all time. But not giving the chance to the younger generation/stepping out of their way is sad.” Another commenter sarcastically remarked that Jones was “doing anything but fighting Tom Aspinall.”

Dana White Confident Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall Will Happen

Despite indications from various sources that Jones might not be pursuing the fight with Aspinall, UFC President Dana White expressed continued confidence that the bout will be scheduled. Speaking to reporters after UFC Kansas City on Saturday, White reiterated his belief that the fight will take place.

White stated, “Everything you hear is bulls— until we say it. I’ve said it many times, that’s the fight we want to make this year. Still super confident [it happens].”

Tom Aspinall, however, appears more focused on simply competing regularly, especially after defending his interim title back in July at UFC 304. His limited activity compared to other champions is a concern for him, and he is eager to fight again, regardless of Jon Jones`s plans.
