Jon Jones ‘Humbled’ by Compliment

Jon Jones has responded to a former UFC fighter praising his pound-for-pound status.

Considered by many as the greatest MMA fighter ever, Jones recently lost his spot as the top-ranked active UFC champion.

Islam Makhachev has been recognized as the pound-for-pound king for a significant portion of his lightweight title reign.

Jon Jones` perceived hesitation to defend his heavyweight title against interim champion Tom Aspinall has led to accusations of ducking and damaged his claim to be the UFC`s best fighter.

Jon Jones Humbled by Former Fighter’s Praise

Jones shared a video on his Instagram story of David Loiseau, a former UFC fighter, discussing the best pound-for-pound UFC fighter.

Loiseau passionately defended Jones against claims that he is avoiding a fight with Aspinall.

“Jon Jones. Jon ‘Bones’ Jones. He’s the number one guy, who moved up from light heavyweight to heavyweight, won the belt,” Loiseau stated.

“Now people are saying, ‘Oh, he’s ducking Tom Aspinall’. Jon Jones is acting as he should. Like a king! Looking down at these peasants who want title shots.

“Jon Jones does what he wants, he’s not ducking anyone. He’s better than Tom Aspinall in every aspect. Dana White is wrong, Jon Jones is not just number one. He’s number one, two, three, four, and five!”

Jones responded, saying: “Humbled by your compliment and love your energy as always. Stay you.”

Tom Aspinall Claims Jon Jones is ‘Conning the Public’

Aspinall made his feelings about Jones known by bringing a rubber duck to UFC London.

On a podcast with Logan Paul, Aspinall accused Jones of ‘conning the public’ regarding negotiations for their fight. Dana White has stated the fight is ‘done’ but not officially announced.

“Jon is conning the public,” Aspinall said. “I’m not denying he’s an amazing fighter.

“The fact he avoided fighting Francis Ngannou for years, and now avoids me for over a year, and how he manipulates media and public is smart. I respect it.

“But if you ask if Jon Jones is afraid to fight me? Honestly, yes.”
