Jon Jones reveals what he wants to achieve once he has retired from the UFC

UFC icon Jon Jones is nearing the end of his decorated fighting career, and he has a specific goal in mind for his post-competition life. The reigning UFC heavyweight champion has faced criticism recently regarding the delay of a potential title unification bout against interim champion Tom Aspinall.

During his time away from active competition, Jones has pursued various ventures. He became a co-owner of the Dirty Boxing Championship and was recently announced to be coaching opposite Nate Diaz in a Russian reality series similar to The Ultimate Fighter.

Jones Aims for BJJ Black Belt After UFC Retirement

Despite being widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in history, `Bones` currently holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. While not primarily known for a dominant grappling style, his overall well-roundedness contributes to his legendary status, making his relatively lower BJJ rank noteworthy.

The 37-year-old has expressed his desire to achieve the rank of BJJ black belt once he retires from his UFC career.

“Yes, I`m a purple belt,” Jones stated in an interview. “I`ve been with Gracie Barra for probably six years or so, six or seven years, and I don’t like to train in the Gi because I compete bare chested with no Gi.”

He explained that his professor requires significant time training in the Gi to earn higher belts. Jones lightheartedly compares his BJJ rank to his ultimate gold belt in combat sports (his UFC championship).

Jones sees the black belt as a symbol of dedication and commitment over many years, something he aspires to achieve after stepping away from the Octagon.

Jones Hints at Potential Fight with Tom Aspinall

Despite reports of difficulties in booking the fight, Jones recently offered a hint suggesting he will indeed face the British fighter. The heavyweight champion shared a photo of a wall displaying posters from his past UFC fights, leaving a distinct space in the corner that appears to be reserved for one final poster.

Accompanying the image, he wrote, “The wall’s almost filled… But trust me, the story’s still being written. The best is yet to come.”

The specific date for this anticipated and potentially massive fight remains unconfirmed.
