Renowned Belgian tennis player Justine Henin, a former world No. 1 and seven-time Grand Slam champion, commented on the news regarding the termination of collaboration between Great Britain`s Andy Murray and Serbia`s Novak Djokovic, a 24-time major winner.
“This decision didn`t surprise me,” Henin stated. “Although previously there was talk that they might continue working together until Wimbledon, and they themselves spoke after the Australian Open about potentially reviewing their plans.”
Henin wonders, “But were they [Murray and Djokovic] actually expecting concrete results from this collaboration? Djokovic, of course, understood the benefit of Murray`s presence, but perhaps he was also looking for new energy, a stimulus. Maybe he was thinking: `With Andy, I need to find new motivation, offer him mine.` Probably, Novak was contemplating his own motivation extensively, and this led him to make this decision now.”
It`s worth recalling that this partnership was announced in November 2024, and initially, it was planned that Andy Murray would work with Novak Djokovic at least until the Australian Open 2025.
