Khabib Nurmagomedov Scolds Teammate in Training

New video footage from inside the training facility shows Khabib Nurmagomedov giving a teammate a stern talking-to.

Islam Makhachev shared clips showcasing the famously rigorous environment of the Dagestani team`s gym. In one video, the UFC icon is seen reprimanding a teammate for being late to training due to oversleeping. The team is renowned for its unwavering discipline, but it seems there was a minor lapse, resulting in a sharp rebuke from Nurmagomedov.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Emphasizes Discipline

The video shared by Islam Makhachev captures Khabib Nurmagomedov addressing a teammate about missing a recent training session due to oversleeping. The former UFC champion, known for his serious approach to martial arts, clearly expressed his displeasure.

Makhachev`s post included captions like “Morning, not good” and “Morning dressing down.” According to translations, Nurmagomedov is heard saying, “Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – three days, you’re on duty… Last time, why didn’t they show up to the training?” When the teammate, identified as Tagir Ulanbekov, attempts to explain, Nurmagomedov reiterates his question, leading Ulanbekov to admit he overslept, causing others to miss training.

Ulanbekov then tries to justify the situation, suggesting that a single instance of oversleeping should be permissible. Nurmagomedov counters by questioning Ulanbekov`s responsibilities while on duty and what measures he took to ensure everyone attended training.

Makhachev can be heard laughing in the background, commenting on the early morning situation. Ulanbekov also mentions that the fighters who overslept were subsequently punished.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Succeeds Father as Gym Leader

For many years, Khabib`s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, oversaw the Nurmagomedov MMA School and directed training camps within the esteemed gym. Following his death in 2020 and Khabib`s retirement shortly after, Khabib has stepped into his father`s leadership role.

Coach Javier Mendez commented on Khabib`s leadership to CBS Sports earlier this year, stating, “He’s taken the team to another level because he’s the greatest of all time, in my opinion. He received great tutelage from his father since he was a young boy.”

Mendez further elaborated, “These guys grew up as kids together… They were little boys training together, aspiring to be the same. The father had a plan for all of them to rule. For Khabib to rule, then Islam to come and the others follow suit. That’s exactly what’s happening. It’s the biggest honor for them to be in that position.”
