Kudermetova Falls to Ruse in Rome WTA 1000 Opener

Russian player Polina Kudermetova, ranked 57th in the WTA standings, was defeated by Elena-Gabriela Ruse of Romania, the world number 88, in the first round of the WTA 1000 tournament held in Rome. The final score was 7/6(10), 4/6, 2/6.

The match lasted for 2 hours and 50 minutes. This was the second meeting between the two players in their careers, with the Romanian emerging victorious on both occasions.
