Ljubicic Compares Alcaraz and Federer’s Grass Adaptation

Ivan Ljubicic, former coach of Roger Federer, named the players he believes are worth watching at the upcoming Wimbledon Championships.

“Alcaraz possesses everything required to play exceptionally well on grass: excellent reactions, good movement, and serious power. But this isn`t surprising, as he quickly found the necessary feel for the surface. It`s a unique playing field – you either adapt your game quickly, or you face difficulties. It took me my entire career to achieve that, whereas Federer, much like Carlos, swiftly found his comfort zone on grass.”

“On paper, Sinner should be just fine, though I doubt he`ll have the same intuitive feel for the grass as Carlos. The Spaniard moves fluidly and maintains great balance. However, Sinner is also improving on grass, particularly with his serve. On this surface, you inherently feel less comfortable if your aim is complete control.”

“And surely, you haven`t overlooked Djokovic, right? A player with seven Wimbledon titles can never be considered an underdog. Furthermore, he rediscovered his top form at Roland Garros. He is in good condition and highly motivated.”

“Unlike last year, Lorenzo Musetti arrives without any preparatory grass tournaments, which might pose challenges for him. Nevertheless, I would advise keeping a close watch on his performance. Jack Draper is playing on home soil and is known for playing very well on grass. Finally, we`ll have to see what Matteo Berrettini can do: assess his form and how he begins the tournament. Let`s hope Wimbledon helps him recapture some pleasant memories.”
