Lois Boisson’s Unexpected Biathlon Cross-Training

French tennis player Lois Boisson, who reached the semi-finals of Roland Garros in 2025, incorporated biathlon training into her regimen last year. In March 2024, she participated in training sessions in Le Grand-Bornand under the supervision of an instructor and her physical conditioning coach, Sebastien Duran.

Duran shared insights into the benefits of biathlon for a tennis player. He described biathlon as a comprehensive sport that aids in training muscle tone for power transfer and provides valuable cardiovascular conditioning. He specifically highlighted the intriguing cardio aspect, such as biathletes` skill in quickly lowering their heart rate to regain accuracy.

Furthermore, Duran pointed out that biathlon practice involves movements related to sliding, drawing a clear parallel to playing tennis on a clay court.

The 22-year-old Boisson, ranked world No. 361 at the time, made a remarkable run at the 2025 French Open, where she was eventually defeated in the semi-finals by American player Coco Gauff.
