Emma Raducanu`s coach, Mark Petchey, shared his thoughts on Jannik Sinner`s five-set defeat by Carlos Alcaraz in their recent high-profile match at Roland Garros.
“In my opinion, many people think that three months out of the game wasn`t a strict enough penalty for him,” Petchey commented. “But now he has paid his price. In recent months, he couldn`t compete in many big matches, and, in my view, the emotional demand—despite him fighting back into the fifth set—was the deciding factor against a competitor like Carlos Alcaraz. I believe he ultimately paid a significant price by not adding a third consecutive Grand Slam title to his achievements,” he added during an appearance on TNT Sports.
