Michael Chandler Open to Fighting Nate Diaz After UFC 314

Michael Chandler is very interested in fighting Nate Diaz if the Stockton star decides to return to the UFC.

Michael Chandler, a popular UFC fighter, is set to face Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 next month in Miami. Chandler is aiming to win after losing four of his last five fights, including his recent fight against Charles Oliveira at UFC 309.

Despite his mixed record in the UFC, Chandler is still a big draw for UFC pay-per-view events. His long wait for a fight with Conor McGregor ended with the Oliveira fight, but Chandler still hopes to fight McGregor.

A victory at UFC 314 would help Chandler get back into contention for the lightweight title and strengthen his position as a top pay-per-view attraction. If Nate Diaz, a former UFC superstar, returns to the UFC, Chandler wants to be his opponent.

Michael Chandler Ready to Face Nate Diaz After Paddy Pimblett Bout

Nate Diaz has hinted at a possible return to the UFC in 2025 as a free agent. After leaving the UFC following a win against Tony Ferguson at UFC 279, Diaz has had two boxing matches, including a win over Jorge Masvidal last year.

However, Diaz suggests his UFC return is being delayed because the promotion lacks big-name fighters. While Diaz wants to compete for a UFC championship, there aren`t many prominent fighters who could tempt him back to the Octagon.

Chandler is one fighter who is interested, and he said he would welcome Diaz back to the Octagon during a recent Q&A on social media.

When asked on X if he was interested in fighting Nate Diaz, Chandler responded directly,

“I’d Nashville slap Nathan,” Chandler said.

Chandler previously commented on Diaz’s hints about returning to the UFC, stating that the UFC is ‘the place to be’ in combat sports. This was seen as a slight jab at Diaz`s choice to leave the UFC for boxing and other opportunities.

Another factor in Diaz’s potential UFC return is Conor McGregor. With one win each in their rivalry, a third fight could happen if McGregor is still interested in returning to MMA.

Nate Diaz’s UFC Return Held Up by Lack of ‘Stars’

Diaz became a UFC superstar after a major upset victory at UFC 196. He defeated McGregor by submission in the second round on short notice, giving McGregor his first UFC loss.

McGregor won the rematch at UFC 202 by majority decision. Diaz then secured a clear win over Anthony Pettis at UFC 241 before losing to Masvidal and Leon Edwards in his next fights.

If Diaz does return to the UFC, Chandler seems like a willing opponent. And if they meet outside the Octagon, there might be physical confrontation.
