Mohamed Salah Signs New Liverpool Contract

It`s official. Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract with Liverpool, ensuring he will remain at the club beyond the 2024-25 season, Liverpool FC announced on Friday morning. Salah`s previous deal was set to expire in the summer of 2025, but recent reports of a new contract have materialized. A similar situation is unfolding with Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk, who is also expected to sign a new deal soon.

Liverpool has finalized Salah`s new contract, committing the player for at least two more years, as reports indicated. Salah shared his reaction to the news on the club`s official website.

“Of course, I`m very excited,” Salah said. “We have a great team now, and we had a great team before as well. But I signed because I believe we have the opportunity to win more trophies and enjoy my football. It`s fantastic, I`ve had my best years here. I`ve played eight years, and hopefully, it will be ten. I`m enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I`ve had the best years of my career here. I want to tell the fans, I am very, very happy to be here. I signed because I believe we can win many big trophies together. Keep supporting us, and we`ll give it our best, and hopefully, we`ll win more trophies in the future.”

Salah currently holds the third position on Liverpool`s all-time top scorers list with 243 goals in 394 appearances. During his time at Anfield, Salah has achieved numerous accolades, including three Premier League Golden Boots, two PFA Players` Player of the Year awards, and two FWA Footballer of the Year awards.

Together with van Dijk, Salah has won seven trophies with Liverpool, including the Premier League title in the 2019-20 season, the UEFA Champions League in 2019, and multiple cup competitions, including one FA Cup. Salah has scored 243 goals in 394 games, making him one of Liverpool`s top scorers in club history since joining from AS Roma in the summer of 2017 for approximately $40 million. Van Dijk has contributed with 28 goals in 293 games since his arrival in 2018 from Southampton for around $80 million.
