The weekend was decisive for teams aiming for the Stanley Cup playoffs. As Monday`s games approach, 14 of the 16 playoff spots are confirmed, but several seedings are still to be determined.

With the regular season ending on Thursday, here`s a preview of what`s at stake in Monday`s six NHL matchups:

Chicago Blackhawks at Montreal Canadiens

7 p.m. ET

Following Columbus Blue Jackets` Sunday victory, their playoff hopes remain alive for another day. A Canadiens win tonight would secure their playoff berth and eliminate the Blue Jackets. Conversely, the Blackhawks are guaranteed to pick no lower than 2nd in the upcoming draft lottery.

Dallas Stars at Detroit Red Wings

7 p.m. ET

The Stars are locked into a first-round series at home against the Avalanche, as they cannot move in the standings. The Red Wings are currently 11th in the draft lottery order, tied in points with the Rangers, and closely positioned among other non-playoff teams.

New York Rangers at Florida Panthers

7 p.m. ET

The Rangers are vying for a better draft lottery position and could potentially pick as high as 10th. The Panthers, while unable to overtake Toronto for the division lead, can still aim to surpass Tampa Bay for second place in the Atlantic. Ottawa cannot catch Florida for playoff positioning.

Utah Hockey Club at Nashville Predators

8 p.m. ET

These teams are positioned at 14th and 3rd in the draft lottery order, respectively. Nashville is set at No. 3. Utah, with 87 points, could move to 13th or drop to 15th depending on results.

Los Angeles Kings at Edmonton Oilers

10 p.m. ET

This game is a preview of the 2nd vs. 3rd series in the Pacific Division, with home-ice advantage at stake. The Kings currently hold the second spot. A regulation win is crucial for the Oilers to improve their seeding.

San Jose Sharks at Vancouver Canucks

10 p.m. ET

This late-night game features two lottery-bound teams at opposite ends of the spectrum. The Sharks have secured the top lottery spot, while the Canucks are currently 15th and could potentially shift positions slightly.
