Paddy Pimblett Addresses Critics After Dominant Win Over Michael Chandler

Since his debut in the UFC, Paddy `The Baddy` Pimblett has been a polarizing figure.

Despite facing criticism during his time in the promotion, Pimblett consistently surpasses expectations with every victory he secures in the lightweight division.

His recent win at UFC 314 in Miami marked his most significant achievement yet, where Pimblett decisively defeated Michael Chandler, earning himself a spot in the top 10 rankings.

The Liverpudlian fighter is accustomed to being doubted and openly uses this skepticism as a source of motivation.

He relishes proving his critics wrong, whether they question his fighting skills or his widely discussed diet outside of training camps.

Pimblett Reflects on Chandler Victory, Addresses Doubters

Following celebrations, including a private yacht party with his supporters, Pimblett took the opportunity to respond to his detractors.

Many fans had speculated that even towards the end of his career, Michael Chandler would pose a significant striking threat.

In his previous fight, despite a decisive loss to Charles Oliveira, `Iron` Mike demonstrated his potent one-punch power by hurting `Do Bronx` in the closing round.

While `The Baddy` has established himself as a dangerous finisher with strong submission skills, one particular area of his game has often faced scrutiny.

Pimblett`s striking defense was a frequent topic of discussion in his earlier UFC bouts, but it did not prove to be a decisive factor on April 12, as the rising contender secured a third-round finish.

The British fighter absorbed any incoming strikes effectively, a contrast to Chandler, who, characteristically, exited the Octagon visibly bloodied and bruised.

More than two weeks after the bout, Pimblett took to social media to remind those who had doubted his stand-up abilities against Chandler at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

“After everyone saying mikes power would be too much for me on the feet, I think yous all realised it was the other around real quick.”

What`s Next for `The Baddy`?

Following his impressive win at UFC 314, Paddy Pimblett ascended four places in the official lightweight rankings.

`The Baddy` is now eyeing a potential title eliminator bout, having mentioned several possible opponents during his post-fight interview in Miami.

Top contenders like Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira would be ideal candidates for this role, representing significantly tougher challenges than he has faced previously.

The lightweight landscape could shift considerably soon, with current champion Islam Makhachev potentially moving to a higher weight class and Ilia Topuria potentially entering the 155-pound division.

Regardless of these potential changes, Pimblett is in a strong position, with a major fight, likely one of the biggest in 2025, appearing to be next for him.
