Paddy Pimblett’s Path to UFC Stardom and the Dillon Danis Rivalry

Paddy Pimblett has become a prominent figure in the UFC, potentially close to title contention. However, his journey includes past conflicts, notably a feud with Dillon Danis.

While his rivalry with Ilia Topuria is well-known, Pimblett has engaged with several fighters over the years. One notable online dispute was with Dillon Danis, a jiu-jitsu expert and former Bellator competitor.

Danis often challenges rising UFC stars, asserting his ability to defeat them despite his MMA inactivity. Unusually, Pimblett responded to Danis, even suggesting a fight if Danis were to enter the UFC.

Dillon Danis Challenged Paddy Pimblett to a Fight

Dillon Danis began calling for a fight with Paddy Pimblett as early as December 2022. Following Pimblett`s narrow victory over Jared Gordon, which Danis criticized as unfair, he claimed he could defeat Pimblett quickly.

Danis tweeted aggressively, stating he would retire and delete his social media if he couldn`t finish Pimblett within two minutes. This challenge went unanswered by Pimblett for about a year.

After participating in a boxing match with Logan Paul in October 2023, Danis was released from Bellator and immediately renewed his call for a fight with Pimblett, proposing a major pay-per-view event.

Danis suggested his UFC debut should be against Paddy Pimblett, emphasizing the promotional potential and fan interest. He even proposed they coach on The Ultimate Fighter, culminating in a fight, to maximize entertainment.

Pimblett responded at a press conference, expressing openness to the idea if Danis joined the UFC. He referenced Danis`s boxing match with Logan Paul, where Danis threw few punches in the ring but more at security.

Paddy Pimblett`s Focus Shifts to Conor McGregor

Ultimately, a fight between Pimblett and Danis did not materialize. Another potential matchup that emerged was with Conor McGregor. Pimblett is now focused on his own career path, with discussions of a potential fight against McGregor arising. He acknowledged the appeal of a McGregor fight, recognizing it as a significant opportunity if McGregor returns to the Octagon.

Pimblett mentioned that many have suggested he should fight McGregor after Chandler, recognizing it as potentially the biggest fight in MMA.
