NFL legend Peyton Manning is expanding his resume to include team ownership. The two-time Super Bowl champion has become part of the ownership group for the new National Women`s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion franchise in Denver, which will begin play in 2026. Manning, famous for his final four seasons with the Denver Broncos, is the latest high-profile individual to invest in women`s professional soccer, following his brother Eli Manning, who holds a minority stake in Gotham FC.
Expressing his enthusiasm in a statement, Peyton Manning said, “It’s a genuine honor to be involved in something so significant for the Colorado community. I am proud to support the growth of women’s sports and eager to help create a club that our city and state can rally behind.”
Peyton Manning joins a growing and diverse ownership team for the Denver NWSL club, led by controlling owner Rob Cohen. The investor group also includes names such as Mikaela Shiffrin, an Olympic gold medalist, and several others from various backgrounds. The group has highlighted its commitment to building a club that is highly inclusive and deeply connected to the community.
The Denver franchise was officially awarded in January 2025, reportedly for a record expansion fee of $110 million. Plans are for the team to start playing at a temporary 12,000-seat facility in Centennial, with a permanent 14,500-seat stadium in Denver targeted for completion by 2028.
Rob Cohen, the controlling owner, commented on Manning`s involvement in a press release, stating, “Peyton`s legacy as both a champion and a leader is unmatched. His influence on sports in Colorado is unparalleled, and we are incredibly pleased to partner with him. He contributes passion, valuable insights, and strong local ties—all of which will be vital in shaping the direction of the Denver NWSL.”
Since his retirement from the NFL in 2016, Peyton Manning has remained a prominent figure in the sports and entertainment world. He established Omaha Productions, known for popular shows like the `ManningCast` on ESPN, and regularly appears on television in various hosting and endorsement roles. Manning has also maintained connections to football by mentoring young players and participating in league activities, while also expanding his involvement in business ventures and charitable work.
