Three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka reflected on his experience playing for the Swiss national team alongside Roger Federer.
Wawrinka described the experience: “For me, it was huge luck – at least that`s how I see it – to be on the same national team as Roger, to be alongside the greatest player of all time. But that didn`t mean it was easy.”
He elaborated: “I was fortunate to share many significant moments with Roger, including the Olympic Games and the Davis Cup. I was lucky that when I joined the Tour, he was already at the top. I trained with him extensively, and we discussed tennis and life at length. I always tried to find the positive aspect in the situation. That`s why I`ll always consider it a great gift of destiny.”
Wawrinka and Federer achieved significant success together, winning the men`s doubles gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and securing the Davis Cup title in 2014.
