Sweeney admitted she hasn`t attended many live fights yet but expressed her admiration for Ronda Rousey, naming her as her personal favorite.

She recounted meeting Rousey, saying, “I’ve always been a fan of Ronda. I actually got to hang out with Ronda and have lunch with her, it was really amazing.” When Forgeard pointed out Rousey`s significant role in establishing women`s MMA, Sweeney wholeheartedly agreed, acknowledging her impact.

Sydney Sweeney to Portray Boxer in New Movie Role

It was announced last year that Sweeney will star as Christy Martin in a biographical film scheduled for release this year. She has been rigorously training for the role, sharing gym footage and photos, demonstrating her commitment to the part.

Christy Martin, a WBC gold medalist since 2009, had a celebrated boxing career with memorable bouts against Deirdre Gogarty, Holly Holm, and Laila Ali. Her life story is now being brought to the screen with Sweeney, a globally recognized actress, in the lead role.

Sweeney shared on Instagram about her preparation: “For months, I’ve been dedicated to training to embody the story of an extraordinary woman – a true champion who fought battles both in and out of the ring. Her life is a testament to strength, resilience, and hope, and I am honored to portray her and share her inspiring story.”
