Former doubles world number one, Barbora Strýcová, successfully completed the Prague Marathon. She finished the classic 42.195 km distance in a time of 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 39 seconds.
Taking to social media after the race, Strýcová shared her feelings:
“`My first marathon!` she exclaimed. `What can I say – I pushed myself to the absolute limit. This was probably the toughest physical challenge I`ve ever faced in sports… But it was absolutely worth it!`
She continued, `What an incredible experience! I went from moments of pure euphoria to hitting walls around the 25km and 37km marks. There were even tears before the start, particularly when I heard `Vltava` [Smetana`s symphonic poem] playing. I want to thank everyone who supported me, both along the route and from afar. I can`t express how much I appreciate it.`
`That 3:18 time… I don`t think my legs will forget it anytime soon,` Barbora wrote.
The 39-year-old Strýcová officially retired from professional tennis for the second time after Wimbledon 2023. She also welcomed a daughter in 2024.
